Cactus Bloom- Friday Photo

WHITE CACTUS BLOOM

After eight years this columnar cactus in my yard expressed its first bloom with a very light fragrance and lasting only 24 hours. A little internet research helped me find the botanical name: Trichocereus brevispinulosis a native to South America also known as part of the Echinopsis spp. family of cactus.

Pretty awesome. How big was it when you put it in 8 years ago? I know little about Cactus. Matti

It was about the size of the smallest columns. I think its growing about 4-6 inches per year and also growing out with new stalk-columns forming each year. Love this cactus because it doesn’t scar and is very green. :)
