I’m excited to share this first bloom of my “Double Delight” rose today. In the past my rose gardening was a failure due to mildew from San Diego’s lingering morning fog and excess water on the leaves. Despite my past failure I decided last month to buy three varieties of rose bushes and plant them in containers instead of on the lawn. For the microclimate here in San Diego this is proving to be a far better method for growing roses and is working beautifully. It’s not hard to guess that I am in LOVE with being a rose gardener now. The fragrance is phenomenal, the form exquisite and the color romantic. This is nature at its best.
Here is a little information on the Double Delight:
→ USDA zone 7b-10b
→ Hybrid Tea
→ Registration name: Andeli
→ Height: 3-5′ Width: 2-5′
→ Container Friendly Rose
It’s not too late to buy one of these rose bushes at your local nursery. For an incredible old-fashioned cut flower this one is a winner!

(Thank you Kris for your love of roses and inspiring me to give it another try!)

Stunning! I can’t wait for my roses to bloom. It’ll be another month or two yet though.
That’s the rose with petals that are dark outside? We had them on a table, having a tea break between visiting open gardens. Loved it, but I really can’t add any more roses. Will just have to enjoy the pictures!
Beautiful!
It starts off as a dark pink bud then opens to white with the pink on the edges. too pretty!

I’m working with a friend who paints florals (and other things), this rose is a perfect fit for her collection…
One of my favorite roses is my Double Delight!
I am continually adding to my gardening info. Thanks for the post!

When I first moved here I had problems with the roses that were here. I changed the watering cycle for the roses to 6:00 am and the rest of the property stayed at 2:00 am. That helped. I now have just changed the roses to drip and that should further help. I do seem to be having a Rust problem. Any suggestions? The roses’s I inherited from the previous owner are amazing. 50 plants!!
From what I have read for rust you need to spray with an organic anti-fungal spray once a week. Watering by drip takes care of a lot of problems and making sure they are fed and get lots of sun. I am still keeping my fingers crossed with my 3 new rose bushes this year. I can’t believe you have 50!
