It takes them 3 years to flower, they need full time sun (at least 6 hours a day) and need to be in well drained soil. They like to be up on a mound so that the root system stays mostly dry. Some Proteas take 6 years to flower. Make sure it is not planted too deep and no other plants are crowding it. Hope that helps! good luck.
